Lassegue – Saint Emilion Grand Cru

Lassegue

Chateau Lassegue Saint-Emilion
Grand Cru
2006

Bordeaux Red Blends from St-Emilion, Bordeaux, France

Lassègue is the essence of opulent ripe and rich Cabernet Franc, a wine of great elegance and finesse. The addition of dense Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon adds softness and roundness to the wine. With a voluptuous, layered and complex structure, the wine shows an accomplished character, which reflects the limestone and clay of the hillsides.

Obviously it is not easy to follow a vintage as spectacular as the 2005. It rained mostly in September, but nice weather returned, after most impatient vignerons had already picked their fruit. Those who waited, were rewarded. The wine has a beautiful fruit nose, clean and fresh. In the mouth, the remarkable balance gives a fairly rare sensation of harmony. The firm, but not dry, tannins indicate good aging potential for this wine.

The 2006 vintage was a success for those vignerons who know how to take care of their vines and who knew to“control their nerves“. The 2006 Lassègue is a different style than 2005, but stands up well in comparison to the 2005. Within eight to ten years, there will be some nice surprises.

Ornate sundials adorn the façade of Château Lassègue, a beautiful 17th century Château,. This symbol of the perfect sun exposure became our logo and conveys the message of our wines. Lassègue is Saint-Emilion at its most opulent. Old vines grow on the South/ Southwest hills in clay and limestone soils in line with Côte de Pavie, adding minerality to their fruit.

Rich, aromatic cabernet franc married to the dense concentration of old vine merlot, seasoned with a touch of cabernet sauvignon results in a wine that is at once powerful and elegant.

55% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Franc, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon

Beautiful ruby color. On the nose there are aromas of berry jam, a hint of roasted coffee and dark fruits, affirming a wine that tastes young. The savory tannins are round and ripe. In the mouth, this wine is very harmonious with an elegant finish, light and fresh, despite the wine’s power. You can start enjoying this wine for its fruit if you are impatient, or wait at least 5-6 years to enjoy its full beauty.

Divine. Jammy aromas are accompanied by amazing and deep dark chocolate cherry. So pleasant on the nose and the palate.
