Tenuta di Somaro
When Mario Ercolino stumbled across an abandoned parcel of gnarled old bush vines deep in rural Puglia, he knew he’d found something special. Mario sought out the owner and convinced him it was time to coax these ancient Aglianico and Primitivo vines back into production. (Mario nicknamed the vineyard ‘Somaro’ after the breed of donkey that originally worked the land). The inaugural release of Tenuta di Somaro won gold at Berliner Wein Trophy and received 92 Decanter points.
