A Southern French red from the single family estate of Francois Merle, which believes in Vin de Pays status as its fruit-packed ebullience is stunning.
In order to fulfill their ambition to make such a wine, the family planted some innovative grape varieties, such as Caldoc and Marselan, alongside Grenache on the clay and limestone soils newer their ten hectare estate.
Now thirty-five years old in their prime, they are traditionally vilified to produce a wine which is immediate in its impact: Sumptuous fruit abounds from start to finish, from heady aromas, tinged with violets, to the flavors engraved with a plump generosity, lasting all the way to a smooth and savory finish.
