Hawke’s Bay – New Zealand
rosé | 2013
Maimai is the New Zealand term for a duck blind, commonly seen on the waterways of the Hawke’s Bay district. For three generations Mal McLennan and his family have farmed this land and they grow grapes in two superb sites; at coastal Awatoto and inland on the Bridge Pa Triangle.
The fruit for this Rose comes off the Merlot block in the Bridge Pa triangle. Early in the Merlot fermentation when the colour was just right we bled off this juice and managed it separately to ensure the freshness and fruit flavours were retained.
Appearance: Beautiful Bright Pink with even colour through the bowl. Very pretty and inviting peach blossom appearance.
Aroma: Lifted and lively the nose of strawberries and roses is very pleasant. Very appealing and inviting.
Palate: Fresh and clean the palate displays lovely lightness that lingers and fills the mouth with summer fruits and flowers.
Perfect for a hot, summer day.
